The Innovate Story
In August 2020, Beth saw a Facebook post that compared ABA to child labor and after reading over 400 comments, she began a season of professional self reflection. During this time, she was introduced to Practical Functional Assessment and Skills Based Treatment and completed Dr. Hanley’s 10 hour training. As she began learning more about trauma informed interventions and compassionate strategies, she made a promise to herself that no client would ever be able to say they were traumatized by something she implemented. Beth has invested countless hours learning about assent based practice, compassionate service delivery, and how the impact of trauma can affect therapy. She began training staff at the clinic where she worked and helped lead the clinic to a compassionate, trauma informed model. Beth realized that she loved training others and watching clients reach significant milestones and her passion for changing our field continued to grow. In January 2023, Beth took a leap of faith and decided to start Innovate Behavior to further disseminate compassionate service delivery and to create opportunities for professionals to collaborate, challenge, inspire, and support one another
